Fifty genotypes of sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L)] Moench) grown in light and medium soil during rabi season of 1994. Genetic divergence and composition of clusters were different in the two environments. There is a substantial genetic diversity between the strains with D2 values ranging from 11.40 to 2501.22 and 13.79 to 2297.07 In light and medium soil, respectlvely. These fifty genotypes were grouped into 13 (light soil) and 16 (medium soil) clusters. The clustering pattern revealed that genetic divergence Is not necessarily programme on the basis of Inter cluster divergence and cluster mfans for the characters studied has been suggested.
