Abstract

The variance due to general and specific combining ability were estimated for assessing the contribution of the additive and non-additive type of gene action involved in the inheritance of different characters. The parents RC 870, RC 759, RC 751 and RC 792 have shown higher GCA effects for seed yield and other characters. The best five crosses are RC 832 x RC 788, RC 827 x RC 870, RC 827 x RC 751, RC 837 x RC 870 and RC 832 x RC 870. These crosses are likely to give better segregants In future generations.
