Abstract

Forty Five genotypes of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) were assessed for variability, heritability and genetic advance for seedling growth parameters under normal and saline environments. The mean of all the traits excepting ratio of root length/shoot length decreased under salinity. Dry and fresh weights of roots and shoots were the most variable characters in both the environments. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance also observed for these traits in both the environments indicating greater scope for improvement through selection.
