Gamma-rays, ethyl methane sulphonate (EMS) and their combinations were used to induce mutation in white chhabru, a local strain of buckwheat. Mutation frequency, mutagen effectiveness and efficiency and synergistic effects of their combination treatments were assessed. Gamma-rays were more effective than EMS. However, EMS was more efficient than gamma-rays. Synergism for mutation frequency in M2 was observed in combination treatments of gamma-rays and EMS.
