Abstract

A field experiment conducted on Vertisol (Typic-Haplustert) under soybean-wheat fallow system has revealed that incorporation of both FYM and inorganic N had a positive role in increasing soil microbial biomass C (SMBS), N and P. The nutrient pool started increasing in the beginning of the crop and soil microbial biomass C was maximum during peak crop growth penod and decreased with the advancement of the crop growth. Enzyme activity was low under inotganic application and control iri the absence of C source. Combined application of FYM and nitrogen helped in building up and turnover of microbial biomass nutrient which inturn increased the nutnltnts status in soil.
