Abstract

A pot experiment was conducted to detennine the effect of ten days spell of drought, at tillering and flowering stages. Genotype IET 11677 showed highest grain yield/plant under moisture stress followed by Annada, IET 11675 and IET 11672. They have been identified as drought tolerant genotypes as they maintained higher relative water content and positive turgor inspite of reduced water potential under water stress and also had minimum water loss and optimum solute accumulation as a result of osmotic potential. Moisture stress, at anthesis, was more detrimental as compared to at tillering.
