The contribution of sunnhemp, FYM, green gram, blue green algae and rice straw was studied alongwith that of priIled urea (PU) in the cultivation of lowland rice and for the residual soil N status. Sunnhemp, FYM and green gram combined with PU proved better than PU alone and exerted similar effect on panicle/m2, grain and straw yields of rice. A similar effect of these organic manures on nitrogen uptake by rice straw, grain and straw + grain was also observed. The PU combined with sunnhemp, FYM green gram amounted to 14.5, 11.5 and 10 kg/ha, respectively higher uptake than PU alone. The rice straw combined with PU produced N uptake similar to that of sunnhemp, FYM and green gram. The application of urea super granule produced the grain yield and N uptake similar to that of prilled urea splits. Residual N fertility was the highest when sunnhemp was applied, followed by FYM, green gram and rice straw. A negative status of N'was observed under control plot.
