Abstract

The present investigation was carried out to evaluate genetically superior genotypes in relation to biochemical constituents pertaining tp protein and amino-acids accumulation for nutritional significance. Significant variations in the crude protein (23.9 to 30.6%), non-protein nitrogen (0.49 to 0.71%), true protein (20.53 to 26.68%), protein digestibility (53.32 to 69.06), albumin (4.37 to 6.56%), globulin (11.81 to 15.31%), prolamines (2.19 to 4.37%) and nucleoproteins (0.44 to 2.19%) were. observed, respectively. In addition, methionine, tryptophan and cystine content were found in the range of 0.52 to 1.27, 0.30 to 0.50 and 0.47 to 1.18 g/16 g N, respectively. Varieties/genotypes JV-I in crude protein and true protein, SV-2 in non protein nitrogen, JV-6 in protein digestibility, EC-284374, JV-1 and EC-284368 in albumin, EC-284347 in globulin, JV-5 in prolamines and nucleoprotein, EC-284373 in methionine, JV-7 genotype in tryptophan and cystine content were emerged to be promising.
