Abstract

A field experiment to study the productivity of periwinkle grown with short duration kharif crops in various row proportions was conducted at Akola during 1995–96 to 1997–98. The highest monetary returns of Rs.30,635 and Rs.30,606 per hectare were obtained with periwinkle+groundnut intercropping in the row proportions of 1: 2 and 1: 1, respectively. The root and foliage alkaloid yields were significantly higher in the sole periwinkle system followed by periwinkle intercropped with groundnut and blackgram.
