From a bulk crop of cowpea cv. CO 2, pods were collected at 10, 20, 30 and 60 days after maturation and seeds were extracted, cleaned and dried to a moisture content of 8.0 per cent and were treated with Thiram (0.2%) + Carbaryl (0.02%). The seeds were packed separately in cloth and polyethylene bags (700 gauge) and stored under ambient conditions for 6 months. The seed samples evaluated at trimonthly intervals for quality revealed that seeds harvested at 10 and 20 days interval showed not only higher germination but better seedling vigour also. The seeds of later harvests indicated the adverse effects on quality. A picking interval of 10 and 20 days is recommended for better seed quality and storability.
