Abstract

Survey (1989–90) of some locally important fruit crop of Hisar included fig, grape, guava, jujuba, lemon, mango, mousumicitrus, mulberry, orange, peach, and pomegranate. The phytophagous nUtes observed were Acarus sp., Brewpalpus calilomicus, B. deleoni, B. phoenidus, Brevipalpus sp., Eotetranychus hirsti, Eutetranychus enodes, E. orientalis, Eutetranychus sp., Eriopyes cernuus, Larvaearus transitans, Oligonychus sp., Tarsonemus conlusus, Tenuipalpus punjabensis, Tenuipalpus sp. and Tetranychus sp. The predatory mites were Agistemus fleschneri, Amblyseius alstonia, A. delhiensis, Amblyseius sp., Bdella sp. Cheletacarus gryphus, Phytoseius roseus and Typhlodromus, homali. The jujuba crop sustained maximum number and types of mite followed by lemon, fig and mousumi. Among the destructive mites the most dominant families were Tenuipalpidae and Tetranychidae. However, the important families of predatory mites were found to be Phytoseiidae arid Stigmaeidae. The majority of the mites are being reportoo from Haryana State for the first time. A key to the identification of mites is incorporated in the text.
