Abstract

Experiment with seaweed extract from the species Ascophyllum nodosum and Chlormequat were conducted on tomato. Application of chlormequat was found to increase the fruit set, fruit girth, equatorial diameter and reduces the flower drop in tomato. Number of fruits per plant, fruit yield per plant and fruit yield per plot was Signficantly increased by the application of 750 ppm of chlormequat and 1680 ppm of seaweed extract. Seaweed extract at 1120 ppm promoted plant growth irrespective of seasons.
