Abstract

Two experiments were undertaken to find out the host range of Bipolaris sorokiniana (Bs) and to screen some rice germplasms against the pathogen. Host range of 119 isolates of Bs against ten plant species showed that Echlnocloa colona, Hordeum vulgare, Xtritico secaie, Triticum aestivum were highly susceptible, Oryza sativa, Zea mays were susceptible and Cyperus rotundus and Panicum miliaceum were non-hosts to all the isolates Of 95 rice germplasms tested against a virulent isolate of Bs 18 germplasms were moderately susceptible, 71 susceptible and six highly susceptible.
