A field investigation carried out during winter seasons of 1993–94 and 94–95 on clay loam lowland soil revealed that increasing nitrogen levels from 50% of the recommended dose to 100% of the recommendation significantly increased the growth, yield attributes and grain yield, nutrient uptake and economic return of lentil taken as residual crop. Residual effect of all the organic sources (viz., FYM, Dhaincha green manuring, moong bean green manuring after one picking and carpet waste) influenced significantly the yield, nutrient uptake and net return of lentil as compared to control (no nitrogen only recommended P and K).
