Abstract

Genetics of yield components of a garden pea cross (Aget-6 x DRP-3) was studied by raising six different generations viz., P1' P2, F1, F2, B1 and B2. The estimates of genic effects revealed the presence of additive, dominance and epistatic components for the control of most of the characters studied. The presence of duplicatory type of epistasis alongwith positive sign of additive x additive (i) type of gene action for days to 50% flowering, pod length, number of pods per plant, shelling percentage and number of seeds per pod indicating the possibility of getting transgressive segregants in later generations by resorting to selection. The 3-parameter model failed to account variation for all the characters.
