Abstract

Aphid (Aphis gossypii Glov.), in terai region of West Bengal was found active throughout the year and highest population was recorded (94.08/leaf) in early August. Population of aphid showed significant positive correlation with average temperature, relative humidity and weekly rainfall. Field evaluation of some pesticides from different origins (synthetic and biological) against A. gossypii Glov. of brinjal in terai region of West Bengal revealed that DDVP was found relatively more effective against aphid on brinjal (67.74% control), followed by avermectin (66.59% control) and malathion (63.35% control).
