Ten genotypes of onion were evaluated for their adaptability in respect of bulb yield and its components for six years from 1996–97 to 2001–02, Significant mean square differences among genotypes and environments for all the characters suggested the presence of variability in genotypes and heterogeneity among the years of experimentation, respectively. The mean squares due to G x E interaction were significant for plant height and bulb yield. Based on stability parameters, the variety Agrifound Light Red exhibited wider adaptation and stability for bulb yield and plant height, whereas the Junagadh Local exhibited wider adaptability and stability for TSS. The stability of bulb yield might be due to stability of one or more of its component characters in onion.
