Abstract

Out of 50 hybrids developed by using five CMS lines and 10 testers, 20 hybrids involving CMS lines viz., COMS9A and IR66707A which, are developed from Oryza perennis cytoplasmic source showed 100 per cent pollen and spikelet sterility. Although these hybrid combinations have no direct use as hybrids, they can be pursued further to develop new CMS lines with diverse nuclear genome. In the remaining 30 hybrids, IR58025A/IR65514R, IR58025A/IR42266R, IR58025A/IR50404R and IR58025A/IR29341R were considered as superior hybrids with high yield and desirable yield attributing characters suggested for commercial exploitation.
