Performance of Rabi sorghum genotypes for charcoal rot resistance under different soil types in northern dry zone of Karnataka

Twelve genotypes were screened for charcoal rot resistance under different soil conditions during 2000 and 2001 in sick plot of Regional Agricultural Research Station, Bijapur. The entries RS-29, E36-1, 9–13, DSV-5, 296B and RSLG 262 were found promising in deep soils, while RSP-3, E36-1, 9–13, DSV-5, 296B and RSLG 262 in medium soil against charcoal rot resistance. Thus, the studies indicated the genotypic variability with respect to degree of resistance in different soil types.
