India is the second largest producer of wheat in the world. The eastern India accounts for 9.5 mha area which is more than one third of the total wheat area of the country. In order to find out the constraints to realize the potential yield in Eastern India, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabirnagar and Basti districts were randomly selected. Data were collected by using PRA technique. The major constraints were; shortage of quality seed during sowing time, high cost of seed and fertilizer, adulteration of fertilizer, high cost of weedicides, non-remunerative price of wheat, higher rate of interest, lack of timely available credit, lack of easily available credit and lack of funds for the purchase of farm machinery. Most of the constraints were of administrative nature, which require government intervention. Some of the problems can be solved by the wheat growers.
