Abstract

The seeds of greengram cv. CO 6 were given hardening and pelleting treatments viz., hardening with MnSO4 100 ppm and hardening with 1 per cent Prosopis leaf extract + pelleting with DAP (40 g) + MnSO4 (100 mg) + FeSO4 (100 mg) + Ammonium molybdate (250 mg) and sown along with dry seeds (control) in a field experiment under rain fed condition. The results revealed that Prosopis hardened cum pelleted seeds recorded higher field emergence, survival, chlorophyll content, seed number pod−1, pod yield and seed yield compared to MnSO4 hardening and control. The seed yield −1 in the best treatment was 862 kg ha−1, which was 21.4 per cent increase over the control and 19.1 per cent increase over MnSO4 hardening.
