The present investigation was carried out in Bhadra Command Area of Karnataka state falling under southern transitional zone (Zone-7) of Karnataka. The study is based on primary data obtained from 240 farmers spread over Honnali and Channagiri Taluks in the command area. The data were analysed using budgetary method and cost concepts. The study revealed that cotton - groundnut system followed by paddy - groundnut and paddy-jowar were profitable. Maize - groundnut was found to be less profitable due to low post harvest prices. However, the system could be profitable if price support for maize is provided by the government.
