Abstract

A F5 population (211 lines) derived from a cross between Azucena (japonica) x HBC 19 (Basmati) using single seed descent method was assessed for variability for basmati grain quality traits. A total of 50 randomly selected F5 plants were subjected to SSR (Microsatellite) marker analysis. The 50 Azucena x HBC 19 F5 plants had an allele from either of the two parental lines (homozygous condition) or alleles from both the parental rice varieties (Heterozygous condition). Based on microsatellite marker analysis of F5 population of Azucena x HBC 19 it was found that significant correlation between RM 310 and aroma existed.
