Abstract

An experiment was conducted with forty six genotypes to study character association and path coefficient analyses in J. curcas L. The trait number of fruit clusters/plant (0.681**,0.905**) along with number of fruit/cluster (0.331*, 0.495**) and dry fruit yield/plant(0.978**,0.995**) had significant correlation with seed yield both at phenotypic and genotypic levels. Only dry fruit yield/plant had relatively large positive and direct influence (0.980, 1.3672) on seed yield both at genotypic and phenotypic levels. The other variables viz., number of fruit clusters/plant(0.6918, 1.2509), number of fruits/cluster (0.3420, 0.7109) and 100-seed weight (0.2822,0.5865) exerted their major effect on seed yield indirectly through dry fruit yield/plant, atphenotypic as well as genotypic levels respectively.
