Abstract

An experiment was conducted during kharif of 2007 and 2008 to know the infestation of shoot and fruit borer, Earias vittella (Fab.) on okra. One hundred germplasms/varieties were taken to know their response against okra shoot and fruit borer, on the basis of shoot damage scale. Only two germplasm showed resistance, fifteen moderately resistance, 66 moderately susceptible and 17 susceptible in 2007, while during 2008 only single germplasms found resistance whereas 16 moderately resistance and rest follow same pattern. The pooled data followed similar pattern of 2007. The minimum shoot damage observed in germplasm 315 whereas maximum shoot damage observed in Thin No. 3. On the basis of fruit damage scale 16 germplasms were found moderately resistance, 24 moderately susceptible and 60 susceptible during 2007, while during 2008, 16 were found moderately resistance,21 moderately susceptible and 63 susceptible. The pooled data showed that 16 germplasms were moderately resistance, 22 moderately susceptible and 62 susceptible. Minimum fruit damage was observed in germplasm 472 whereas maximum observed in Thin No. 3.
