Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of different doses (0.75, 1, 1.25 and 1.5 of recommended dose) of Granstar, Atlantis and 2, 4-D herbicides on salsola weed (Salsola tomentosa) and yield components and total yield of wheat, at Bastak (Hormozgan province, Iran) during 2013–14 growing season. Minimum density (3.0 plants m-2) and dry weight (3.29 kg m-2) of Salsola weed were recorded in Granstar herbicide @ 31.25 g/ha. The maximum number of spike per square meter (423.33) was observed in Atlantis herbicide @ 1.5l/ha. The maximum grain yield (4, 818.0 kg ha−1) and grain number per spike (41) were in case of Granstar herbicide @ 31.25 and 25 g/ha respectively. Keeping in view of environmental concerns and for lowering the cost of herbicide application a dose of 18.75 g/ha or 1.125l/ha maybe recommended.
