Characterization and evaluation of plant growth promoting Pseudomonas isolated from rhizosphere of Acacia nilotica and Albizia lebbeck

Abstract

A total of 65 bacterial isolates from 10 different locations of the test plants i.e. Acacia nilotica and Albizia lebbeck in Godavari belt region were screened. Of which, seven isolates showed positive response to plant growth promoting characteristics like Indole Acetic Acid [IAA), production of volatile toxic substances like Hydrogen sulfide [H2S) and Hydrogen cyanide [HCN) that are antagonistic in nature. These screened isolates were tested for germination efficiency on test plant seeds. It was found that Isolate number-13[Ps-13] was very efficient on seed germination. To test the efficient combination of bioinoculants, the best plant growth promoting Pseudomonas species was applied to test plants along with other standard microbial bioinoculants and the result showed that Pseudomonas along with Glomus species [Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungus] gave best results for Albizia lebbeck. Rhizobium and Pseudomonas combination was found to be best for Acacia nilotica.
