In this paper, a new method for reducing the size and/or increasing the gain and bandwidth of slot loop antenna is presented. Miniaturization is effectively carried out by means of using Slow Wave Enhancement (SWE) factor. This paper investigates the feasibility of utilizing antenna with capacitive load to reduce the overall length. The antenna is being loaded with shunt capacitors to slow down the waves in the structures. Load parameters in the circuit can be obtained when a specific size reduction is attempted. Experimental results show there is a size reduction of about six times from the unloaded counterpart at the expense of degraded gains and bandwidth. The loaded slot loop antenna shows a gain and bandwidth of -8.1253dB and 37.5MHz at the operating frequency. Hence, a matching circuit designed from filter design techniques is used to increase the gain and bandwidth. The slot loop antenna combined with the filter type impedance matching circuit produced a gain and bandwidth of 5.362dB and 375MHz at the operating frequency.
