The study was conducted to analyze the classroom interaction in the Institute of Arts and Sciences of the Kalinga-Apayao State College with the following specific objectives: 1) To identify the interaction strategies used by the English, Science and History teachers; 2) To compare the strategies used by the English teachers with that of Science and History teachers.
Tape-recorded classroom interaction of twelve classes were observed consisting of four (4) English Classes, four (4) Science Classes, and four (4) History Classes. These classes were observed for three consecutive meetings. Mitchell's List of Teacher's Communication was employed in the analysis of data.
The findings of the study are: 1) English, Science and History teachers employ communication strategies such as repetition, clue-giving, language switching, substitution, and teacher interpretation for better communication and comprehension of meaning. 2)English teachers do not differ with History in repetition and language switching but differ significantly with science teachers.
