The Kalinga traditional most vital feature that evokes artistic expression in construction is its suitability to the ecology of the place. The Kalinga ancestors may not have acquired a particular education in engineering and architecture, but closer examination of the structure reveals that indigenous carpenters clearly understand and apply principles in construction that give beauty and durability to a building such as balance, proportion, synchronization, space, and among others and built environment, spaces, and the activities of people are inter-related and inseparable.
