Abstract

A paradigm shift is occurring within Human Resource (HR) practices driven primarily by the influx of Millennials (also referred to as Generation Y, Gen Y or Gen-Yen) joining the workplace and the departure of Baby Boomers (Boomers) from the workplace. As the transition from Boomers to Millennials takes place, a generational gap is forming. The purpose of this paper is to ultimately answer the following question: What are the most impactful HR strategies and methods an organization should consider using to bridge the generational gap, attract and retain the best talent, and motivate performance from both the Millennial and Boomer generations?
