Abstract

In this work, AA7075/AA1100 multilayer sheet has been processed by accumulative roll-bonding to a large strain followed by a T6 heat treatment. The rolling work was done at the solution temperature of AA7075. The strength, microhardness and ductility of the ARB sheet have been increased. The microstructure had a UFG structure with average grain size of less than 0.1μm and a lot of dislocations. It was found that the reduced grain size was responsible for the increase of not only the strength but also the ductility of the sheet.
