Designing of Circular Patch Antenna with Three Circular Slots of Different Radii for UWB Applications

Abstract

The design of a compact circular antenna with ultra wide bandwidth is described and investigated in this paper. The antenna provides impedance bandwidth range from 3.7 to 11.7 GHz with a center frequency of 4.3 GHz; thus it covers the bandwidth requirement of UWB alications. The structure of proposed antenna is very simple and composed of a circular patch with three circular slots of different radius on it. It occupies an area of only 33 X 22 mm2 when printed on one side of FR4 substrate with a thickness of 1.6 mm. The role of various design parameters like S-parameters, current distribution and radiation pattern are studied.
