Analytical solution of non-linear differential equations in Aerobic stabilization

Department of Mathematics, The Madura College, Madurai-625 011, Tamil Nadu, India

Abstract

A mathematical model and analysis of aerobic landfill in lysimeters and of aerobic stabilization old landfills is discussed. The first model is consisting of system of three equations describing the CO2 production, organic carbon content in the waste and leachate. The second model based on a system of five differential equation (one linear and four non-linear) describing CO2 production, O2 assimilation and the changes of organic content in the leachate. Approximate analytical expression for the concentration of organic carbon in waste, organic in leachate, carbon dioxide, oxygen and aerobic microorganism in the waste are derived using a special Homotopy method. These analytical results are compared with the simulation results and experimental result. Satisfactory agreement is noted.
