Design and development of solar panel optimizer

Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos State, Nigeria

Abstract

This research work developed a proposed small-scale solar panel optimizer based on some assumptions. The device is powered by visible light rays from the sun and channeled for electricity generation by convex lens and plane mirrors inclined at 450 to the plane of the solar panel. The capacity of this proposed device is to be able to fully charge a Lead-Acid battery within few hours. The objective is to drastically reduce fossil fuel consumption that leads to environmental pollutions, global warming with the greatest perspective. The cost for electricity generation is not left out in the objectives of this proposed device. This is with a view to encouraging the mass production of this device thereby solving the world's energy crisis. It is with confidence that it can be stated that the device as designed will yield to its desired objective and be an improvement to the conventional methods of using the solar panel in the past. The world population is growing at an alarming rate and so is the energy demand and the need to solve the energy crisis experienced today.
