Project management methodology provides a guideline for managing the projects and it is one of the important factors for successful completion of the projects. Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and PRojects IN Controlled Environment Version 2 (PRINCE2) are most widely used project management methodologies in the world. The aim of this study is to compare PRINCE 2 and PMBOK to identify the characteristics of these best practices in order to provide decision criteria for organizations with regard to selecting IT project management methodology.
