Diabetes is increasing at an alarming rate and global health concern. So, blood glucose monitoring is very important for diabetics to keep blood glucose level within the physiological range. There is a tremendous development in the technology behind glucose sensors, especially in the areas of chemistries for glucose sensing strips, miniaturization of sample size, reduction of potential interferences, efficient electrode design, decrease in glucose detection time and increased user-friendly operating procedure. This paper aims at study of different types of glucose sensors. Their performance is analyzed on the basis of parameters like detection limit, selectivity, sensitivity, response time, storage stabilization, linearity range, cost, operation stability, etc. This analysis will help to meet the challenges of designing cost efficient sensors with enhanced capabilities and improved reliability.
