Dianthus caryophyllus L. (dicot) and Gladiolus grandiflorus Andrews (monocot). were micro propagated from nodal segments and shoot buds respectively. These explants were cultured on Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with different levels of 6-Benzylaminopurine (2.22μM, 4.4μM and 8.88μM) and Kinetin (4.65μM, 9.29μM and 13.94μM). Shoot induction in both ornamentals was maximum on MS medium supplemented with BAP at 8.88μM level. Optimum shoot induction was observed in dicot in case of Kin. Highest shoot multiplication in Dianthus and Gladiolus was achieved on the basal medium containing 13.32μM and 22.19μM of BAP. Rooting in the shoots of both ornamentals was achieved at MS + NAA. Low concentration of NAA (2.69μM) was suitable for rooting in dicot while monocot gave high number of roots at higher concentration of NAA (10.74μM). Plants hardened and bloom in green house.
