Abstract

An oral exposure of mice to Sodium benzoate, 155 mg/kg bw/day in a single dose for 180 days changed the normal features of liver to a diseased one. Light and Electron microscopic studies have revealed significant change in treated animals compared to control. It appears that an alteration of the normal features of liver to diseased form by an oral exposure to Sodium benzoate possibly could be a reason for liver cell damage.
