Abstract

Human development on the earth is the outcome of thousands of successful inventions in different fields of science and technology. In 20th century, industrial revolution has boosted the mass production of goods and services. The development is one side of the coin, at the same time; this industrial revolution has damaged the global environment in an exponential way. The revolution of e-technology has changed the fate of many industries. Inception of internet services over the globe has changed life style as well as the business dynamics. Due to the usage of internet in daily work, it has mainly reduced the paper usage. Paper making industry is one of the most pollutant industries. Paper is produced from tree blocks, and the wide usage of paper in all spheres has resulted in huge volume of trees cutting, which in turn has damaged the global environment drastically. The ground water pollution caused due to the disposal of hazards wastes which generated during the paper manufacturing in the form of residuals. The industry uses energy resources (electricity, petrol, diesel etc.) for manufacturing the paper at different stages of the process. This paper is focused on paperless (online) patent filing system under the patent cooperation treaty (PCT) method. It has analyzed the cost, energy and environment saving due to the online patent filing system. It has analyzed the different activities uses of e-technology in patenting process and which hugely minimizes the paper usage.
