The recent times have been witnessing an exodus of the village folks from their native places to the glittering cities. These innocent and misdirected people have left their homes in pursuit of the illusion of prosperity. They are slowly and surely being sucked into the vicious circle of materialism. This so called urbanization apparently appears to be a symbol of growth, but if analyzed deeply this is an indirect attack on our resources on one hand and an underutilization of the great natural wealth that awaits tapping in our rural India.in this paper An attempt has been made here to highlight the problems which our society is facing because of the increasing trend of urbanisation in India and how finite and irrenewable resources are are getting over- exploited. An effort will be made in this project to suggest some policy alternatives.
