Abstract

Investigations were carried out to study the growth performance of Indian Major Carps viz. Rohu (Labeo rohita), Catla (Catla catla), Mrigala (Cirrhinus mrigala) and Chinese Carps viz. Grass Carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella), Common carp (Cyprinus carpio) and Silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) in Polythene Lined rain water Harvest Tank. Rearing of the fishes using locally available feed materials Mustard Oil Cake and Rice Bran was conducted during 2013 to 2015 in Instructional farm of Krishi Vigyan Kendra East Siang, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh near district head quarters Pasighat (28°04′ N, 95°22′ E and 152 m altitude). The results revealed that better growth performance can be obtained by culturing Silver Carp and Grass Carp. The maximum weight of Silver carp and Grass carp was recorded upto 1.45 Kg and 1.14 kg respectively, after a culture period of 8 months.
