Abstract

A total of twelve samples of different populations of the variety JRO 524 (Navin) were collected from ecologically different areas of the country to study the variations that have emerged among and within the populations. Remarkable variations were observed in regard to pre-mature flowering under early sowing, plant morphotypes and yield potential. At the end of three consecutive year of selection exercise three potentially differing and uniform variants have been established. These have been discussed in the paper and necessary inferences drawn.
