Let (E, d) be a metric space, and T, f: E → E two self-mappings with T (E) ⊂ f (E). Assumed that either or f (E) is complete, and T is f-weakly contractive mapping, then the coincidence points of T, f is nonempty. If, in addition, (T, f) is weakly compatible, then T, f has the unique common fixed point. Our results unify, generalize and complement various known results existing in the literature.
