A Rare Case of Solid Variant Type of Aneurysmal Bone Cyst

An aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) is an uncommon non-neoplastic lesion of the bone, mostly affecting long bones and spine and rarely occurs in the jaws. It represents approximately 1.5% of all nonodontogenic and non-epithelial cysts of the jaws. This rare jaw lesion usually affects the mandible but origin from the maxillary region is even rarer. The literature contains conflicting reports on the clinical and radiological features of Aneurysmal bone cyst of the jaws. The radiographic appearance of Aneurysmal bone cyst varies from a unicystic radiolucency or moth-eaten radiolucency to an extensive multilocular lesion. This paper describes a case of an Aneurysmal bone cyst in a 35 year old male that was treated with excision and enucleation of the lesion through an intraoral approach under general anesthesia.
