Trying to answer “why does it work?” is a good opportunity to say a few words about some topics that may be either not well known or not well understood in the community of swarmers. I assume that the readers know the basis of PSO, but are not experts. This paper would not be of interests to experts, as almost all the topics discussed here have already been presented before in different places, although some-times only informally, for example inside the XPS project [24]. I do not follow the classical paper format: there is no Introduction or Conclusion, just ten short topics.
