In todays world fuzzy logic is used to solve various engineering issues. In this paper a novel approach for tuning the PID controller is implemented. Designing the values of proportional, integral and derivative constants are divided into three stages one for each constant. The Fuzzy system identifies the constants at each stage. At the first stage the Fuzzy logic controller determines the value of Kp from error and the rate of change of error, the second stage determines Kd from the error and finally Ki from the rate of change of error. The process is repeated until the error is zero. The Kp, Ki and Kd are set by the fuzzy logic controller to improve the performance of rise time, peak overshoot, oscillation and the settling time. Finally the Fuzzy Logic is implemented using Simulink to view the performance of any second order system.
