Premenstrual problems in some form are common among the young girls and sometimes it may lead to the severe manifestation in the form of premenstrual syndrome which may affect the day to day life and create physical and psychological complaints. Studies conducted in India and outside suggested variable prevalence (30 - 85%) among the young girls. This study was conducted among age group of 13 to 22 years from urban locality to find exact prevalence of premenstrual syndrome and signs and symptoms of it. Study was conducted in randomly selected schools and colleges and total 275 girls were included in the study after taking consent. Out 275 participants 76 (27.6%) of girls were complained about the premenstrual syndrome out of that 5 (6.7%) complained about sever premenstrual syndrome. Most common behavioral symptom was fatigue reported by participants 162 (58.9%) and physical symptom was backache 165 (60%). Age group of 19–22 years has shown more prevalence of premenstrual syndrome 17 (30.3%) out of 56 participants from same age group. Family history of premenstrual syndrome was present among the 61 (41.2%) participants who were experienced premenstrual syndrome.
