Abstract

A study was carried out at a large tertiary care teaching institute at Rohtak (Haryana) to evaluate the waiting time of patients, work load and their level of satisfaction to assess the existing health care services delivered to the patients reporting at OPD Complex.

The study was conducted in the year 2012 & a total of 180 cases were included in the study fulfilling the selection criteria. All Patients visiting the hospital for health services from 9th Feb 2012 to 25th March, 2012 were the source population. The study population was selected using systematic random sampling technique.. Structured questionnaire was designed to seek information from the respondent regarding their satisfaction level with different components of Hospital services which included the accessibility to OPD Complex, Waiting time for the services, courtesy, convenience and physical facilities and patient waiting time Monitoring Instrument was also used. A total of 180 Patients were enrolled in the study and there was comparable gender distribution with slight male predominance (58.33%).It was found that the Maximum Waiting time was 4.49 Hrs. in Obstetrics & Gynaecology followed by that in Medicine, TB & Chest and Orthopaedics OPD whereas the Minimum Waiting Time was 1 Hr. in Paediatrics, ENT and Skin OPD.63.89% of patients were satisfied with the health services provided at the hospital to such an extent that they would like to avail the services again whereas 18.33% were dissatisfied with the same.77.78% of the Patients were satisfied with the services provided in the hospital to such an extent thatthey would like to recommend it to their friends and relatives.
