Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine modulation of the cardiovascular response to exercise by Harvard step test in different age group subjects. A total of 90 enrolled for the Harvard step test (55 were males and 35 were females). All the subjects were randomly selected and divided into 3 groups. First group belonging to age group between 15–25 years, Second group of subjects between 26–35 years, Third group of subjects between 36–45 years were utilized. All the results were analyzed statistically using Student T test. Results showed higher cardiovascular efficiency in Group 1 subjects compared with Group II and Group – III subjects. Out of 90 subjects, only 5 subjects showed good cardio vascular efficiency and 26 subjects showed poor cardio vascular efficiency. Thus by this study, it may be concluded that there is decrease in heart rate with increase in the age. Men doing more physical work scored better in Harvard step test score.
